I purchased 2 bootable USBs from this person via Ebay for my netbook and my brother’s as a gift to him. Windows XP on my netbook had almost run out of memory with all those updates.
I did not want to wave the guarantee from the manufacturer by installing Ubuntu so the USB boot allows me to run the miniHP with Ubuntu no problem.
Radio streaming is a little problematic because they are linked to windows programs but flash and viewing videos on Hulu and Youtube are not a problem.

Try this: power down Eee, disconnect AC charger, disconnect battery, wait 10 sec. Connect battery, connect AC charger, and power up and test Eee. This will force a hard reset to the WiFi adapter in the Eee.

No, you simply need to turn 3D on under “Appearance” settings.

i have a question, Do I have to install the graphics drivers manually in order to get 3d out of the box?

You can install either the standard desktop or the netbook remix desktop on an Asus Eee PC. Both operate the same – only the user interface, the desktop, is different.

would there be any problems if i just install a desktop version of ubuntu instead of notebook remix??

hey how do you instal it to dual boot?
June 8th, 2010 at 1:49 pm
Yes. You can install Ubuntu to the second HD for dual-booting.

wow thanks for the fast response!
one more question, I’ve got the eeepc 1000h.and there are 2x 80gb hard drives. do u think I could use the 2nd (which is empty and unused) for linux?

If you keep the original operating system on the PC’s hard drive when installing Ubuntu, then Ubuntu’s installer will automatically set up for dual-booting. NOTE: Defrag Windows operating system TWICE before installing a second operating system for dual-booting and shut-down/re-boot PC between defrags. (The defrags put all of Windows files together and allows for a faster install; otherwise Ubuntu installer would have to defrag hard drive.)

after having installed ubuntu, is it easy to dual-boot? how do you do it? because I’m quite interested in ubuntu, but I need xp for some programs :S

EXT3 and EXT4 are journaling file systems and perform many writes to the drive (making and updating the journal), thus can wear a solid-state drive out earlier than necessary, faster than EXT2 will. But, EXT3/4 are better at recovering files/data upon a corruption.

Why ext2?

Yes, you can install Ubuntu to dual-boot along side Windows, then choose which OS to run during power up.

Do you have to back up everything, or not? Because I have the acer 160GB with ms office on it for school, and I am wondering if it keeps your stuff.

Can you install the Netbook Remix on an EEE w/ the old 900 MHZ Celeron Processor? That’s what I got….

Acer Aspire One and ubuntu netbook remix.
The best thing is to install on a pendrive, because the internal ssd is a bit crappy.
In this moment i’m enjoying of this “columbus egg”.
Mousepad scrolling is Waay better than Xp, and 3d desktop is on the fly. This is perfect for Netbooks!
