yeah but its solid state. which means it is pretty much impossible for it to crash. say you dropped it. the computer may not be fine but the hard drive will. say you dropped a normal hard drive it will would break.
It doesn’t do everything that a laptop does, but what it does, it does better. Smaller, lighter, faster boot time. I have the 901, which has 802.11n and Bluetooth. It’s about half the weight of my Macbook. If I only need web access, or office apps, or audio/video playback, guess which one I’m carrying? You can also use USB thumb drives to carry video files.
The macbook air is no way near as travel friendly as this device. For a bus trip lasting a few days, is a 16G SDHC card not enough for music and movies? Gosh, this thing is cheap as chips, so if you loose it or get it stolen, it’s not as big of a deal as loosing a macbook air.
why use MSN when it already comes with Pidgin… you can use multiple IM clients on that one program including MSN. Pidgin is available for both Windows and Linux
i was also wanting to find this out, and i did. watch the video and it tells you lol. he is using an 8gb sdhc card. awesome eh. ive just ordered one of these asus eees too.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention that laptops are becomming more powerful and even starting to get cheaper than midgrade desktop pc’s. Smaller isn’t allways better when it comes to laptops.
I think I’ll stick to my macbook pro with boot camp – vista/leoparrd.
I guess I don’t really see the need to have a smaller laptop – The macbook air is pushing it, I wouldn’t even buy it.
For travel and stuff like that, first of all if im on the bus for a few days, having a bigger monitor to watch movies and actually store alot of songs and movies is a plus – thats my biggest issue with that little laptop.
Thanks for the good review though – Just thought I’d voice my opinion.
For $100 more you can get a umpc with about the same hardware specs that comes with xp that’s a lot cooler, that you can hold in the palm of your hand, so I don’t get this machine at this cost, maybe if they made it about $1-200 it’d make sense. I mean it’s got a free bloody os on it.

Why would you want 2 GiG RAM in a system like this. For the low end tasks it’s ment for, it has enough with the standard package.

Does the EEE PC 4G 701 support 8gb SDHC Class 2 memory card on its internal card reader?
Please someone reliable answer my question. I’m planning to buy an 8gb memory card for my eee.
Thanks.
